Schloss Leopoldskron

Shooting location from the movie “The Sound of Music”

Built in 1736, Schloss Leopoldskron captivates with panoramic views of the surrounding mountain world. In 1964, it was one of the primary shooting locations for the movie "The Sound of Music", and is recognisable as the home of the "Von Trapp" family.

The Schloss is surrounded by a beautifully manicured 7 hectare park, and overlooks the lake Leopoldskroner Weiher.

It was awarded the "Best Historic Hotel of Europe" award in 2015 by the Historic Hotels of Europe, and has hosted notable guests, including Prince Charles, Bill Gates, Kofi Annan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Hillary Rodham Clinton.
